About Nationwide Children's Hospital
All Great Scioto Duck Race proceeds will benefit The Research Institute at Nationwide Children’s Hospital. The Institute is focused on discovery – an improved treatment for a serious childhood illness, an exciting new insight into a basic biological process, a pioneering strategy to prevent injury or disease, or an innovative way to deliver care to the most vulnerable of our children. Indeed, discovery through cutting-edge biomedical research is at the very heart of Nationwide Children’s Hospital’s mission. That is why our scientists and physician investigators work tirelessly in the quest of new knowledge to improve the lives of children and their families.
The dream of treating, curing, and even preventing childhood diseases has inspired doctors and scientists for more than four decades. It is an unending search for answers, fueled by the passion of dedicated researchers and those like the Development Board who invest in their ground-breaking work.
Development Board of Nationwide Children’s Hospital
The Development Board of Nationwide Children’s Hospital is a dynamic group of philanthropic-minded business professionals who give generously of their time, talent and resources to further the life-saving mission of Nationwide Children’s Hospital. Founded in 1971 to enhance the relationship between Nationwide Children’s and the local business community, the Board has grown to over 175 Active and Life members representing a wide variety of companies and industries throughout central Ohio.
In an effort to raise money throughout the community, the Development Board hosts several city-wide events. These include the Woody Hayes Celebrity Classic and Kick-Off Party, Rock ‘N Bowl, Slice of Columbus and The Great Scioto Duck Race. The Board also coordinates various projects through the Every Gift Matters online campaign. These fundraisers and cause-marketing efforts have resulted in over $15 million raised since the creation of the board to support the good work of Nationwide Children’s Hospital.
